Some of my favorite vacation afternoons are spent playing games with my children. We love Stratego and DixIt and a drawing game where you choose a letter, and then a location, and you have 1 minute to draw items that begin with the letter that would probably – and could possibly, however remotely – be found there.
I’m always buying new games, too, and fortunately my son is there to read the directions, because I hate that part. (“I got a new game!” I’ll announce, and then: “Thanks for offering to deal with the instructions,” before the poor kid has even said a word.) While we’re playing, we like to eat popcorn and chocolate candy and drink Coke/Diet Coke. If that sounds like fun, give it a try with this popcorn, which is much less expensive and healthier than whatever you’re probably buying these days.
Paper Bag Popcorn
¼ cup popcorn kernels
½ tsp. oil
¼ tsp salt
Mix popcorn kernels with oil and salt. Place in a paper bag. Fold several times to close. Set on a plate and put in the microwave. Cook until all kernels stop popping, about 2 minutes.
